It’s such a beautiful time of year! Crisp mornings with skies that have purple and orange hues. Cooler evenings that are great for sitting at a bonfire with a warm drink. Inside

• Check or replace furnace filters
• Clean and check fireplace
• New batteries in Smoke Detectors
• New batteries in carbon monoxide detectors
• Test sump pump
• Examine doors & windows for air leaks
• Prep humidifier – check for condensation & proper humidity levels
• Check caulking around your windows
• Check basement and crawl spaces for leaks or moisture

Outside

• Examine the chimney
  
• Check the roof
• Trees – check for dead limbs & remove them, or higher an arborist
• Clear out gutters
• Drain exterior water lines
• Turn off exterior faucets
• Winterize sprinkler systems
• Winterize pool or jacuzzi
• Check septic system
• Check hand rails on stairs/steps for sturdiness
• Store/protect patio furniture
• Check snow blower and shovels
• Store away summer tools/maintenance machines
• Stock up on sand and salt

It might seem like a long list, but by maintaining your home every year, and having a checklist so that nothing goes undetected, you can potentially save yourself from headaches in the future if you find something preventable now and fix it. It’s so worth it!
